Advanced Sealing Welcomes David Reeves

We are pleased to announce that David Reeves has joined forces with Advanced Sealing, and now serves both in the capacity of Technical Consultant as well as our Director of Bolting and Sealing Technology.
David Reeves is well known in the sealing industry from his groundbreaking work as Chevron’s Senior Bolting and Sealing Specialist. In his thirty years at Chevron he fundamentally reshaped the science and practice of exchanger sealing, developing new materials and new procedures that achieved unmatched results. He wrote all of Chevron’s bolting and sealing standards, and developed new testing protocols for evaluating the real-life performance of sealing materials.
His efforts also extended to mechanical valve packing. His introduction of a 5,000-cycle packing test spurred research efforts by a number of packing manufacturers, and led to the development of “Low Emission” packing – a classification that is now accepted by the Environmental Protection Agency. This class of mechanical packings can control leakage of volatile organic chemicals to less than 50-parts-per-million for as long as 10 years.
David has been a prolific source of new ideas which have resulted in patented products. He has authored numerous technical papers for diverse industry groups such as the UOP Users Symposium, the American Fuels and Petrochemical Manufacturers, the EPA’s LDAR Convention, and the Valve World Convention.
His entertaining, data-filled, rapid-fire presentations have made him a top-ranked speaker at both national and international events; while his practical experience and depth of knowledge have made him a valuable asset to the hundreds of us who have called him over the years for help.
In addition to his work for Advanced Sealing, David continues to serve as a valuable member on ASME’s B16.20 committee.
David Reeves is available to our customers for in-plant training and troubleshooting.
